Cally and her now-husband Alex were set to walk down the aisle on a gorgeous day in the Fall of 2021. They tied the knot at the intimately-secluded Lake Mary Events Center. Looking back on that day, Cally can recall each of the beautiful details that made it so special. Which is pretty easy considering she happens to be an event planner.

So what specifically made her day so special? We decided to get the low down directly from Cally herself in a fun Q and A session. Read her answers below!

Q: During your wedding planning process, what did you continue to hear about your wedding day from other wedding pros that turned out to be very true?

A: Do not worry about the timeline! Based on my past experience planning weddings I knew that once the ceremony was done the timeline was not a make it or break it situation. However, I didn’t truly realize it until I was the bride. I let my photographer, DJ, and wedding planner keep things going where it made sense. I knew I could trust them and didn’t need to worry.

Q: Were there any wedding day surprises? And if so what were they?

A: Yes! Our wedding gifts for each other were a fun surprise for each of us. My husband got me some incredible hockey tickets and I got him a Cameo from one of our favorite celebs.

Q: What were your favorite dance floor moments?

A: The entire time on the dance floor was incredible. Our DJ was on top of everything we asked for all evening. We loved that he really understood the music we wanted and the vibe we were going for. He kept the dance floor full and all groups of friends and family spent a large amount of time on the dance floor. It was a night to remember to say the least!

Q: What are your top 3 memories from your wedding day?

A: Number one would definitely be walking down the aisle to my new husband. Then number two is the entire time on the dance floor – especially line dancing with my best friends in my wedding dress and heels.  And finally, number three is getting ready with my girls and spending amazing quality time with them beforehand.

Q: How did you recover from your wedding day? Honeymoon? Time away? Spa day?

A: We made the decision to book a honeymoon in 2022 and took the time immediately after the wedding to visit our favorite place with our best friends and family – Disney.

Q: What is the number one thing you wish that you would have accounted for? More reception time? Midnight snacks?

A: I would say that I wish I could go back to my planning and definitely hire a videographer. I didn’t think it would be necessary, but I would love to have the memories from the dance floor on video.

Q: What types of music were you excited to hear once it was time to dance?

A: All of it! Jeff and his team were incredible and made sure to listen closely when we spoke about our musical tastes. The music was spot on the whole night.

Q: We love all the unique details that speak to you as a couple. What details were included because they represented you and your now-husband?

A: The thing that was most important was that the music played all night was representative of us. As a couple, we are not into the traditional reception songs and we wanted to make it as much of a party as possible. A lot of Taylor Swift was played plus some of our favorite artists’ music.

One of my favorite details was our seating chart that incorporated my processional song, Love Story, by Taylor Swift.

Q: Any advice for future brides and grooms on how to ENJOY their reception?

A: Don’t sweat the small stuff. It took a lot for me as an event planner to let go of the little details and not worry about everything, because truly, no one is paying attention. Enjoy the night – soak in the love in the room. And brides – don’t forget to eat!
